We were asked to install an Adjust Brace (handle brace) and Quick Hold Shuriken on a Grom, and as we were starting the work we discovered a voltage drop of 1V between the accessory power supply and the battery voltage.
As there was a possibility that the device would malfunction if left in this condition, I asked when the battery should be replaced.I was told that the customer had only recently purchased the device second-hand and had only replaced the battery with a new one three days prior.
Suspecting the alternator, I tried to start the engine but the starter wouldn't turn.
I thought it might just be a temporary discharge, so I charged it and started the engine, and the current seemed fine.
Since there are many retrofitted electrical devices, I measured the estimated current just to be sure.
This is the Zephyr's proposed current of 0.003A.
This is the Grom's proposed current
More than 0.1A continues to flow.
This will gradually drain electricity while the engine is off.
Fortunately, the car is suitable for pushing into, so we were able to move it, but we had to remove each suspicious electrical component one by one.
For the time being, I was told to just install it as planned, so I forgot about it for the time being and continued working.
The gold brace bar goes perfectly with the yellow Grom.
The smartphone holder is the currently popular Quick Hold Shuriken.
We performed the inspection free of charge and found the cause of the battery being dead, which made the customer very pleased.
Apparently they came to visit after seeing Kaedia on Instagram.
